McDowell Trojans
Ben Spooner
Cash Hammond
We invited three more teams this week, but Corry could not make it because of the distance and time commitment out of school. We will go to practice this week to honor the Beavers. First up is McDowell with assistant coach Brad Orlando and senior leaders Ben Spooner and Cash Hammond. The two have been crucial in all aspects of the game. They are both versatile and have the speed to make an impact as sort of linebacker/safety hybrids on defense and wide receivers on offense. The two also help on special teams as crucial players for the Trojans.

Corry Beavers
Jack Vancheri
Lamech Elbers
Following the Corry Beavers’ impressive 49-14 victory over Northeast High School, quarterback Jack Vancheri and running back/linebacker Lamech Elbers were selected by their coaches as the Erie Lions Club Players of the Week.
Vancheri led the Beavers’ offense, completing 7 of 12 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. He also rushed six times for 18 yards and a touchdown.
Elbers delivered an outstanding all-around performance, rushing 12 times for 84 yards and two touchdowns, catching two passes for 38 yards, and returning two kickoffs for 34 yards. Defensively, he was equally impressive, recording 11 tackles and two quarterback hurries from his linebacker position.
Both players showed exceptional effort and playmaking ability, playing key roles in the Beavers’ convincing victory and earning well-deserved recognition from their coaches and the Erie Lions Club.

Mercyhurst Prep Lakers
Tyler Quinn
Eyon Ellman-Sparks
We also honored Mercyhurst Prep this week as the Lakers are on a three-game winning streak. Representing the Lakers were coach Jeff Root, defensive standout Tyler Quinn and Eyon Ellman-Sparks. Quinn is a junior edge rusher, who had 11 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, and 3 QB hurries in Mercyhurst Prep's dominant 64-0 victory over Cochranton. Ellman-Sparks, a senior running back had 3 carries for 97 yards and 1 TD, 1 reception for 31 yards and 2 punt returns for 89 yards with one being a 63 yard return for a TD.
